The territory in present day Candatora and the territory of Heulania were a client states of the Nortuan Union. From 1818 until the end of the Nortuan Union in 1880, the Tinegardians established a policy of indirect rule known as "Vennlig regel." The policy was laid out by Gustaf I of Tine.
