Elected President of the CenCo

TBD

The 2015 Namorese legislative election was held on March 20, 2015 to elect the members of the 19th Namorese Central Council (CenCo). The election coincided with the 2015 presidential election. All 2,549 seats in the CenCo were up for election and 1,275 seats were needed for a majority.

The left-wing parties won a majority of seats, with the Liberationists winning the most number of seats among the leftist parties, making it the largest party in the newly-elected Central Council. The election marks the first time since 1980 that a legislature with the Liberationists as the largest party was elected. The Democratic Socialists also gained several seats and stayed the second-largest party , while the Socialists lost 144 seats, becoming the fourth-largest party. The New Democrats, which dominated the outgoing 18th CenCo, lost nearly half of its seats and became the third-largest party, effectively losing control of the CenCo. The ultranationalist People's First Coalition won 371 seats - the best performance in its electoral history.

Background

In the preceding election, the ruling New Democrats retained their majority in the 18th Central Council, despite losing several seats to the other parties.

Procedure

Polls opened nationwide starting 6:00 am and closed at 7:00 pm Namo Time. Vote counting started immediately after polls closed.
