Tsarina Katerina II (Letnian: Царица Катерина И.И, tr. Tsaritsa Katerina II) is Empress of Letnia.
Katerina was born in 1982 in Turov to then Emperor Nicolas III and his wife Maria Maximilianovna, a commoner. She was the oldest of three children, having two younger sisters. She attended school in Letnia, and university in Vihoslavia. She took on a life of public service immediately after university, joining the Letnian diplomatic corps and spending time as an emissary in Vihoslavia and Sebrenskiya.
She married in 2004 to a man from an old noble family, Prince Artyom of Kirov. Since then, they have had one son, Ivan Artyomovich Azarov, in 2007. There have been unconfirmed rumors that the family has wanted to have more children, but are unable due to medical reasons.
She was crowned Empress on April 14th, 2015, several days after the death of her father, Nicolas III. His sudden death by heart complications was unexpected, and Katerina had to be flown from a visit in Vihoslavia for the funeral and coronation. Since becoming Empress, she has accomplished a number of reforms in several areas, notably pension and educational reforms. She is widely considered a political reformer, and while she has broad political support from across party lines in Letnia, there is a significant opposition to her rule.
