Armament
The Bocsaeir is armed with a 120 mm/44-calibre main gun and is equipped with 35 rounds, which can include: APFSDS, HEAT, high explosive (HE), smoke, anti-personnel, and illumination rounds.
The on-board fire-control system includes a laser rangefinder with an effective range out to 5,000 meters, a 32-bit ballistics analysis computer, passive thermal imaging, an automated-tracking system, and improved gun stabilization. It is capable of engaging stationary and moving targets in day or night conditions, can be controlled by either the gunner or commander, can track both ground targets and helicopters, and can calculate the lead on moving targets.
The commander's sight consists of a 3× / 10× day-only sight that can track vertically from −29 to +29 degrees, as well as track horizontally through 180 degrees. The gunners sight has a 10x zoom.
The gun is loaded by a conveyor-belt type autoloader capable of maintaining a firing cycle of approximately 4-6 seconds.
The secondary armament consists of a 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun (600 rounds) and a 6.5 mm coaxial machine gun (4,500 rounds).
Protection
The Bocsaeir uses modular ceramic and steel composite armor to better facilitate the upgrading, maintenance, and replacement of the armor.
Mobility
The Bocsaeir is powered by a 10-cylinder two-stroke cycle diesel engine providing 1,500 hp (1,120 kW), providing approximately 30 hp/tonne. The hydropneumatic suspension units are mounted on the front and rear pair of road wheels, which can be adjusted on-the-fly to deal with uneven terrain. The maximum quoted road speed of the tank is 70 km/h and it is capable of accelerating from 0-200 m in 20 seconds.
