Federal States of Kaoro

The People's Federal Socialist States of Kaoro, also known as the Kaoroan People's Republic until 1979, commonly referred to as Socialist Kaoro or simply Kaoro, was the government of Kaoro from 1972 to 1997. Formed from a military coup d'etat in 1972, it is today historically known as a regime that ruled in terror. Up to 2 million Kaoroi fled the country during the Socialist rule. The Federal system turned into an illusion, with states' autonomy being decreased rapidly. During the 25 year rule of the regime, the Kaoroan economy collapsed, and the amount of damage done to the economy still hasn't recovered since the downfall of the regime, making living in the Republic era the most favourable condition in Kaoro's history. The PFSSK left a bad stigma with communism & socialism to Kaoroi, which is the main reason why several political parties, including the Communist Party of Kaoro, have been banned in the months following the Restoration Declaration, despite pleas of not being involved with the brutal regime.

The government was known for brutal crackdowns against protesters, including the bloody 1975 Kaoro Protests, where up to 242 citizens were killed and several thousand more injured as the military moved into cities to quell the protests. With the Lozat Incident in early 1996, the Socialist government found itself facing against the Kaoroan Spring, a protest where they could not just simply crackdown. Kaoroan army deserters took protesters to the countryside and gave them training. With the dawn of a civil war, the Socialist regime collapsed with a demoralized army, and the former leaders fled to other countries, leaving Kaoro City exposed, which fell on November 27, 1997.

History

Formation

The Socialist government was formed on April 4, 1972 with a coup d'etat against the Republican government. The coup was performed by many socialist officers in the Kaoroan Army. The remaining army failed to quell the unexpected coup. With a nationwide broadcast through television & radio, an unknown soldier announced a now infamous quote to Kaoroi: "The age of tyranny is now over, and today the people's voice is the way forward."

Kaoroan Spring & Civil War

Following the Lozat Incident in early 1996, where several Kaoroi were brutally beaten in the streets of Lozat by soldiers on patrol for entertainment, the Kaoroan Spring began. The Socialist government tried its best to crackdown & intimidate the protesters, however this did nothing more than add fuel to the fire. Eventually, deserters of the Kaoroan Army took several thousand protesters to the countryside. These soldiers taught the protesters in warfare, leading to the formation of the Kaoroan Defense Forces and the start of a civil war. The Kaoroan Army, demoralized, collapsed as thousands of soldiers mutinied and/or deserted. With a broken Army, the Socialist Kaoroan government escaped Kaoro and fled to other countries, leaving the capital of Kaoro City exposed, where the KDF took the city on November 27, 1997, with little to no opposition.

Politics

Society

Society was extremely closed off during the 25 years of the regime. Many commerical products were owned by the government & the only media were government mouthpieces. Kaoro City was put into a degrading condition as the government never bothered to invest into the city.

Economy

During the Socialist regime, the Kaoroan economy collapsed, as the government was extremely stubborn in it's poor economic policies.
