Joshua Partridge Kingsley Canning (/ˈpɑːtʃrɪdʒ/; born February 2nd, 1979) is an Insulamian author and politician, who is serving as the 16th and current prime minister of Insulamia since 1 January 2021 and the leader of the People's Party since 29 March 2020. He is the a member of Parliament for Cottopey since 2012, and was the Minister of Education from 2015 to 2020. His political views have been described as democratic socialist. As an author, Canning is most known for his political works, both fiction and non-fiction, including Colourblind (2011), Survival of the Richest (2003), and Fighting Fire with Napalm (2014).
Canning was born in St. Peter and attended Saint Peter's Grammar School. He received higher education at the Royal Insulamian University in Franclinton and acquired a Bachelor of Education degree, a Bachelor of Political Science degree, and a Bachelor of Linguistics degree. After graduating in 2000, he taught at Niles J. Coopers Anglican College at a primary level until 2006. His first book, In Offence, was published in 1998, when Canning was still a student.
