The SSV 011-class submarine is a class of attack submarines constructed for the United States of the Tao Navy (USTN). It is one of two attack submarine classes in active service with the USTN. It was originally concepted of in the 1938 "next-gen" fleet plan.

Development

The SSV 011 class submarines were originally envisioned in the 1983 "next-gen" fleet project. By 1985 the plan had been ready for implementation and called for at least two new classes of conventionally powered attack submarines (SSV 001 and SSV 011). While the plan considered a class of nuclear attack submarines the USTN was too split on whether or not it was a good use of resources, especially considering how many ships they were planning on building in the coming years. The result of this was that the decision on the nuclear submarine concept was delayed until construction on the conventional submarines had begun, to make sure the Navy got the minimum of 20 submarines they had wanted.

The SSV 011 took some of the basic systems and warfare features from the SSV 001 class and improved them quite a bit. It isn't known exactly what the largest upgrades were, however, as details about the class' development and construction are classified. It is speculated that the sonar, radar, and FCS all received major upgrades, while being based on the same platform.
