The 1973 Besmenian presidential election took place on 25 February 1973 in Besmenia. The 11th Besmenian presidential election, which originally would have taken place in April 1976, had to be presented three years earlier due to the sudden death of President Thomas Albrecht in January 1973.

Electoral system

The President of Besmenia is directly elected by the population once every six years. The election is held under a two-round system; if no candidate receives more than 50% of votes cast in the first round, then a second ballot occurs in which only those two candidates who received the greatest number of votes in the first round may stand.
