The Marca I "Soldado de Acero" was the world's first tank, tracked and armed armored vehicle, to enter combat. Designed to reinforce the faltering lines of the Canter Western Offensive during the Canter Uprising. It was designed to survive machine gun and small-arms fire travel over difficult terrain, assault fortified enemy positions with powerful armament, and intimidate rebel forces. The Marca I saw heavy combat in the uprising as well as other wars throughout Anteria its service in the years to follow. More than two thousand Marca I tanks were produced before manufacturing was discontinued in 1902 when it was ruled largely obsolete.
