Mentone is a large, nearly square, rural state in eastern Pherigo. Mentone is bordered to the east by the Ibican state of Hamilton, to the south by Jefferson, to west by Calpurnia, and north by Cumberland. Mentone City, the state's capital and largest city, with just short of 90,000 people, is located near the source of the Menton River and the historic Fort Mentone, which the state is named for, originally established as an Albionite colonial fort in 1498.

Mentone is almost entirely flat, outside of the Mentone and Calpurnia river valleys, and has the largest percentage of land used for argiculture of any state. The only industrial center is Mentone City, which acts as a hub processing much of the state's agricultural products.

History

Mentone was originally settled by Albionite colonists in the late 1400's, with Fort Mentone being established in 1498. By 1590, Mentone City had been established as a hub for the surrounding farming villages. In 1610, colonial authorities split off the Mentone District from the Jefferson District, and set up colonial officials in Mentone City.

During the Pherigo Revolution, Fort Mentone was one of the last hold outs of Albion forces, not falling until 1626.
