The Douar Arab massacre took place in Douar Arab, a town 10 km south-west of Dar Al Hamma. It borders the town of Si Qadir, which also experienced a massacre in May 1997. The massacre was called "the failed massacre of Douar Arab" by historians, due to its short duration and a strong opposition by the locals who fought against the terrorists with hunting rifles. The most famous is Sheikh Khalid Harjam, who trapped and killed 12 terrorists. 51 persons died during this massacre.
