Lelsdadnes
Lelsdadnes (Vyvlander for "Small-town-hood") is a Vyvlander cultural concept relating to a stereotypical and traditional way of living in Vyvland. Lelsdadnes refers to the communities and relationships in small Vyvlander towns, and is viewed as a highly desirable way of life by many. It combines homeliness with a traditional focus on local spirit, but is mainly a social rather than personal concept. Although lelsdadnes refers to a traditional way of life, it does not exclude those who are different from the norm, but instead is focused around an inclusion of an entire community. As such, the concept is not viewed as one which is hostile to homosexuality or progressive thought.
Lelsdadnes also has a strong geographical feeling; it emphasises continual ties to one's hometown and a pride and desire for betterment of the area where one lives. Thus, lelsdadnes places value by upkeep of the environment and cooperation with nature, and it is for this reason that Vyvland has very environmentalist policies. Lelsdadnes is also used to refer to the rivalry common between many nearby Vyvlander towns.
Lelsdadnes has been used by the right-wing in Vyvland, especially the National Party, to signify traditionalism and harking back to historic Vyvlander life, yet critics say lelsdadnes is perfectly compatible with modern life and values. Others see lelsdadnes as irrelevant in the modern age, and it is often used as a derogatory term to refer to those from outside major cities. It also was used by Erman Sanker to describe an ideology that advocated homeliness and appeal to national Vyvlander life but also advocated for high economic growth.
