The 2022 Narsoran General election was held in Narsora on 7 November 2022 to elect the president, vice president, the National Congress, the governors, vice governors, and legislative assemblies of all federative units, with the exception of the special administrative province of Soxí . The election was conducted under the ballotage system, a modified version of the two-round system traditionally used in Narsora. Progressive Transformation Union (spanish: Unión de Transformación Progresista) candidate Alejandro Correa won 52.56% of the total votes, passing the 45% threshold required to win in a single round and a significant 11.62% (2,199,540 votes) lead over incumbent president María Castellano.
Legislative Elections
As a result of restructuring of the legislative system the number of seats in the senate increased from 52 to 120, and the number of seats in the chamber of deputies decreased from 234 to 180. The prior ruling party, the New Democratic party retained it's majority in both the senate and chamber of deputies.
Senate
The New Democratic party retained it's majority in the senate winning 33 seats for a new total of 63, over the 60 seat minimum required to keep it's majority. The Green party also gained a notable increase from 3 seats in the 2018 election to 10 in 2022. The newly created centre-left Progressive Transformation Union (spanish: Unión de Transformación Progresista) gained 35 seats, while the far-right Preservation Union (spanish: Unión de preservación ) gained 12 seats.
Chamber of Deputies
The New Democratic party retained it's majority in the chamber of deputies by default, though only gaining 1 seat for a new total of 89. As no party met the 90 seat minimum, the New Democratic party still has the most seats in the chamber. The Green party also gained a notable increase in the chamber of deputies, gaining 7 more seats for new total of 14. The newly created centre-left Progressive Transformation Union (spanish: Unión de Transformación Progresista) gained 52 seats, while the far-right Preservation Union (spanish: Unión de preservación ) gained 25 seats.
