The current flag was adopted in 1833. The knot in the center has four points to represent the nation's four Siorrachds, tied together as one knot. The green on the flag symbolizes the land of the nation. The white, the sky and ice. The blue symbolizes the water that surrounds most of the nation and cuts through its terrain. The knot is orange as it is the traditional color of the Ríog.
