The Royal Malgravean Times (RMT) is a state-run newspaper operated from the United Kingdom of Malgrave. It is one of three major newspapers operating within the country. The RMT enjoys a wide level of distribution across the world and is the current newspaper of choice for many foreign ambassadors serving inside Malgrave.
History
The Royal Malgravean Times was established by the Malgravean government in 1911. It was developed in response to the failure of several privately-owned newspapers in order to provide a clear and neutral source of information to the Malgravean people, at an affordable rate.
It was initially the most popular newspaper in the country, however, following the expansion of the printing industry and the creation of several successful privately-owned newspapers such as Country Today it soon dropped from the most read newspaper in the country to the third-most read paper in the country, a sign of the incredibly competitive newspaper industry of the time.
The Great Exodus however changed that with many once large companies being destroyed by war and lacking the resources to completely rebuild in a new region went out of business, being owned by the state the Royal Malgravean Times took advantage of state financing and quickly established itself as the only daily newspaper in the country acting to destroy private competitors which attempted to move into the newspapers daily market. Since then the Royal Malgravean Times has enjoyed it's status as the counties dominant newspaper far outselling it's nearest rival the Epping Post which has since focused it's business on the capital and the Country Today which has since changed into the Financial World Today.

During the 1960 Malgravean National Election the Royal Malgravean Times ran several articles highlighting the temporary and protest None of the Above Party publicly supporting the party for the election victory whilst running several "hit" pieces on the lack lustre and lazy form of the established opposition parties and the current Government.
In 1973 journalists of the Royal Malgravean Times broke with the story that uncovered massive levels of corruption within every level of Government including the office of the Prime Minister, the scandal eventually led to the 1973 Malgravean Emergency General Election and is often heralded as the newspapers greatest piece of investigative journalism.
Controversy
Over the years the RMT has been accused of using its advantageous financial position and status as a state-run company to crush internal competition, as the newspaper has retained its dominant market share over the decades. It is an accusation that has been denied by both the RMT and successive governments.
Over the decades the Royal Malgravean Times has been accused of being mouthpieces for successive governments from both the left and right side of the Malgravean political spectrum. Following the victory of the Progressive Unity Party in the 2000 Malgravean General Election these calls have increased, with analysts from the Independent Foreign Policy Institute noting a connection between the foreign policy line pushed by the government and that of the RMT.
