Zacharias V (18 June 1506 – 27 October 1597) was King of Nova Solarius from 16 March 1556 – 27 October 1597. He is regarded as one of the best monarchs Solarius had with his political reforms and expansion of territory in Pelia. He started the colonial era after the colonization of Frutiltus. His reign set the Aureum Period from 1556-1681. During Zacharias' reign, The Laros Famine happened, but with the establishment of the Food & Safety Department in 1572GD, life expectancy improved by 1583GD with a average life of citizens were 65 years old. Zacharias also founded many institutions with the most notable one being The Institute for the Blind which he established since his favorite cousin, Prince Peter of Aliga was blind. He was known as the Philosopher King due to his care for his people rather than the care for glory. Most of the wars Zacharias fought were defensive wars against aggressor nations. One of these wars, Agori War were the bloodiest in 300 years.

Early Life

Zacharias was born on 18 June 1506 at Gredds Castle, Sol. He was the grandson of King Solus XV, and the second oldest son of King Taejo VII. He was raised in the Daemoian Lifestyle named after how King Daemon V's was raised with the people in a average town raised by trusted citizens. For 17 years, he was raised in the small town of Elgri where he had to eat, work, socialize with the ordinary people. Every once in a while, he would visit the Palace for special occasions and holidays. He did have guards while at Elgri, but it was limited to three guards. He made childhood friends at Elgri, some of whom worked with Zacharias during his reign. He was reported by one of the guards to be: "A hard-working boy, that would neither complain nor rest until the work was done. He helped the elderly farmers carry the baskets and even went to hunt deer in the forests near by. He is certainly going to be the Populus Rex of Solarius." Text from the: Scrolls of Elgri to King Solus XV.

Life at Elgri

Zacharias grew up in the best house in Elgri but it was nothing fit for Royalty. It was inhabited by a couple and their son. The father was Darius Felco, the mother was Anna Felco & the son was named Julius Felco. Julius was around the same age of Zacharias, being both raised from childhood to 18 years old. Zacharias at first was a bit scared of the woods that surrounded Elgri, but while he grew up, Zacharias, his step-brother Julius, and their friends all ventured into the woods from time to time. They hunted game and even killed a bear in one session. The friend group the Zacharias formed consisted of by age 10 was Garios Melvos, Daren Deos, Victoria Memos, Plubious Vigoria, Julius Felco, Lucullus Reta, Quintus Asina, Juliana Asina, Justin Yigo & Zacharias Celestia. The group of ten always hanged out together, and would help around the town with chores and work. One day, in July, there was a fire at the town barn, and with the organization by Zacharias and his adaptive brother, a team of citizens filled their buckets with water and had a system to get water fast to put out the fire. This was the first instance of firefighters outside the cities of Solarius. Many more years would go by and the town flourished with the help of Zacharias and his group. By 18, Zacharias, along with his friends, help improve the town and the town would go on to be funded by the government.

Early Adult Life

When Zacharias reached the age of 18, he was sent to the Capital to study at University of Solar Galaxy and on 22 June 1529, graduated the University and started to teach at the University in the Philosophy courses. He taught for 5 years and after his tenure as a Professor, he was elected as Chancellor of the University from 1534-1541. During his tenure as Chancellor of the University, he expanded the Campus to he volunteered for the army at the age of 35.
