List of Chancellors

1899-1935

This era was marked by the newfound independence of the First Confederacy. The Chancellor was nominated by the Confederal Council but had to be approved by the popularly elected General Assembly. The aristocracy dominated, with the east and west extremes of the country, especially the provinces of Harkzel and Påskebyen in a system called Wheat and Potato Politics.

1935-1983

The era after the Komrep Coup of 1936 saw ruthless crackdowns on freedom and civil liberties, centralization of power away from the provinces, and the abolishment of private party. The sole legal party was the Blivenist-Hoevenist Inglaterran Communist Party, with all chancellors during this era coming from that single party. Over time, Inglaterra began to slowly liberalize. Chancellor Paal Selnaes would push for democratization, his plans for Inglaterra resembled that of a social democracy, but he was silently removed in 1975.

1983-Present

The era after the end of communist rule led to a decentralization of power as provinces reclaimed their former powers and multiparty elections were held in 1984 onwards. However, since 2008 Inglaterra has undergone severe democratic backsliding, mostly due to the actions of Chancellors Wyckoff and Uffson.
