Aachtigen (Inglaterran: Åjktijen and Frigan: Aaktijem) is the capital and third largest city of Inglaterra. The city sits on the northeastern coast of Inglaterra with a population of 7.5 million within the city limits and over 9 million in the metropolitan area. It covers and area of 1469.2 square kilometers. Aachtigen is one of the largest cities in Frigo and is the third most populous city in Inglaterra. As the capital and one of the largest cities in Inglaterra it is governed by the confederation government directly.
Founded as a fishing port in 1834, the discovery of iron and copper in the Inglaterran tundra led to a stream of immigrants from Niagara and its colonies. When Inglaterra went independent in 1899, Aachtigen was chosen as capital to compromise between Aldsthiem and Waadlan, the two largest cities in the newly independent country. Aldsthiem, the largest Inglaterran speaking city and an eastern city, and Waadlan, the largest city overall and largest Niagaran city in the west, almost came to blows at the 1899 constitutional convention over the issue of which would host the government. In compromise, the bilingual city of Aachtigen was chosen as capital of the new country.
One of southernmost major cities in the world, with a history that spans almost two centuries centuries, Aachtigen is governed as a confederal city and serves as a key political, economic, cultural, and scientific center of Frigo and Inglaterra. It has one of the largest city economies in Frigo and Inglaterra and a fast-growing tourism destination. It is home to one of the highest number of billionaires of any city.
Aachtigen is governed as a council-mayor system where an elected council and mayor govern the town. On the national level, Aachtigen is considered a first-level division, a governorate, in Inglaterra and the Mayor of Aachtigen is considered to be ranked equally with a governor of other governorates. Of the 9.2 million people living in Aachtigen, over 52% speak Frigan and 43% speak Inglaterran. Most of the remaining population speaks Inith.
