The Malgravean Royal Navy is the maritime combat branch of the Malgravean Armed Forces. It is a professional blue-water navy which operates across Mystria and beyond.
Historically, the Royal Navy was instrumental in the establishment of the Malgravean nation state and was instrumental in ensuring it's survival during the Great Exodus which ensured that the military service continued to receive support even during the Malgravean Civil War and the long period of isolation.
Since emerging from isolationism, the Royal Navy has received considerable investment and is commonly regarded as the prime focus of Malgravean military efforts. While not the largest fleet in the region, the Royal Navy maintains a highly capable fleet which has performed admirably during historic naval missions and is considered by many netizens to be the pride of Malgrave.
History
Technically, the Royal Navy can trace its foundations prior to the establishment of the Malgravean state, as it was formed to protect convoys of civilian transports as they set to establish Malgrave. In these early years, the Royal Navy focused on purely defensive operations and training the next generation of sailors, however, these plans were changed when Imeriata invaded Malgrave, as heavy combat between the Imerian and Malgraveans soon resulted in the Great Exodus.
It was during the Great Exodus when the Royal Navy entered into the hearts of the Malgravean population, as elements of the Royal Navy launched a fierce counter-attack against the numerically superior Imerian Navy and were able to smash their way through the blockade lines to establish a safe corridor for civilian transports to escape mostly unharmed and re-establish themselves in a new homeland far removed from Imerian aggression.
For this action, the Royal Navy were highly lauded for their bravery and heroism. In the early stages of the Malgravean Civil War this position was maintained when the Royal Navy remained loyal to the central government in Epping and contributed to defensive efforts which prevented Epping from falling into the hands of the National Workers' Republic of Malgrave. During the civil war the Royal Navy didn't play a major role in the combat, however, the force was given limited resources to establish a number of overseas bases on natural and artificial islands to organise intelligence-gathering missions and support scientific exploration.
