CAE Systems plc (CAE), also known as Commonwealth Aerospace Systems, is a Niagaran multinational arms, security, and aerospace company based in Victoria, Niagara. It is the largest defence contractor in Abos, and ranked the fifth-largest in the world based on applicable 2022 revenues. As of 2022, it is the third-largest manufacturer in Niagara. Its largest operations are in Niagara and Zarare, where its CAE Systems Zarare subsidiary is one of the two largest suppliers to the Zarare Ministry of Defence. Other major markets include Antarctica, Melayu, Polynesia, Delgada and Fort PP. The company was formed on 12 April 1997 by the £9 billion purchase of and merger with TBDCOMPANY1 (TBD) by Commonwealth Aircraft, an aircraft and munitions manufacturer.
CAE is the successor to various aircraft, shipbuilding, armoured vehicle, armaments and defence electronics companies. These include TBDCOMPANY1, the first commercial company to develop military radar; TBDCOMPANY2, one of the world's first aircraft companies; TBDCOMPANY3, manufacturer of the TBDAIRCRAFT and TBDAIRCRAFT, the world's first VTOL attack aircraft; TBDCOMPANY4, builder of the world's first battleships; and TBDCOMPANY5, builder of the Royal Niagaran Navy's first submarines.
Since its formation in 1997, CAE has made a number of acquisitions, most notably of United Defense and Armor Holdings of the United States, and sold its shares in Airbus, Astrium, AMS and Atlas Elektronik. It is involved in several major defence projects, including the TBDCOMPANY7 F-35 TBDNICKNAME, the TBDCOMPANY8 TBDAIRCRAFT, the TBD-class submarine, and the Ark Royal-class aircraft carriers. CAE Systems is listed on the Victoria Stock Exchange's TBD 100 Index.
