The Gilson administration began on December 25, 1843 when Jean-Pierre Gilson took office as the tenth president of the Federation of Rizealand after the death of President Frederick Doyle. A National Republican who had been elected deputy president in the 1843 election, Gilson became the first deputy president to serve as president following the death of President Doyle during his term of office. Gilson was defeated in the 1848 election and his administration was succeeded by the Robertson administration under Billy Robertson, a member of the Democrats Party.
