Chief of Staff Maria Castrnuev (born Maria Virgina d' Cuadunca Castrnuev Fernandus on March 23rd, 1990) is a Draakuri civil servant, stateswoman, government & political figure. She is a key member of the Emergency Transitional Administration currently governing Draakur in conjunction with Storkeneg Vitus and the rump of the South Ottonian government following the events of the Spring 2022 South Ottonian Revolution, and is widely considered to be the de facto second-in-command to Director of Oversight Stevan Grimmeburger.
Castrnuev was a member of the Royal Authority on Draakur beginning in 2014, after she graduated from Universida Reyal d' Sant Mikel with a Master's Degree in Public Administration. Her hard-driving work ethic, assertive personality, attention to detail and organizational skills quickly caught the attention of the at-the-time Chief of Staff to Governor Ardem Wyatt, one Stevan Grimmeburger, who took a shine to the young civil servant. Thus, when an opening for Chief of Staff to the Governor appeared in 2018 after Grimmeburger's successor at the position retired, the Lieutenant Governor recommended Castrnuev to the Governor.
Thus Castrnuev, at just 28 years old, found herself running the office of the Royal Governor, a position she held on the eve of the South Ottonian Revolution. When events demanded a reshuffling of the government of Draakur, this meant she was tapped quickly to serve as the de facto executive officer and second-in-command to Grimmeburger as he took on the functional head of government post as Director of Oversight.
