The Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Mizialand is the unified armed forces of Mizialand. It consists of the Ground Forces, Air and Air Defence Forces, Naval Forces, and Queen's Guard. They guarantee the preservation of the independence and sovereignty of the state and the integrity of its land area, territorial waters and airspace and its constitutional order. The armed forces of Mizialand act under the authority of the Ministry of Defence (earlier known as the Ministry of War and Defence).
According to 2018 Armed Forces Reformation Committee Report, the active strength of the armed forces is 221,567. Majority of the armed force consists of conscripts. All able bodied male citizens are conscripted at the age of 18 or as soon as they finish 11 or 12 years of schooling (depends on their course of study), whichever is later. They are required to clear a physical, intellectual and mental fitness test failing which they have the option of serving in the civilian forces (such as police) or paying an additional 5% income tax till the age of 30. The service consists of three phases: Phase 1 the Boot Camp lasting 3 months, Phase 2 the Active Service lasting 18 months and Phase 3 the Revision Service where conscripts are called upon once every 5 years till they attain the age of 30 to serve in the army. Exemptions are granted only on the possession of dual nationality or for Mizia citizen residing abroad. Females are not conscripted, though they may voluntary serve in the army. All posts including combat are open to females.
The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces is the Prime Minister of Mizialand. Prior to 2016 when Mizialand became a constitutional monarchy, Her Majesty's brother His Royal Highness Pierre Vincent was the Commander in Chief, when he resigned from his position, effectively transferring the authority to the newly elected Prime Minister. However, his crown continues to mount the royal lion on the coat of arms of the Armed Forces.
