Etymology

The “Domain” is derived from the Mongon term for a possessed section of land. The Golden portion refers to the Aureoloth, which rule it. Some translations thus render it as “The holdings of the Aureoloth(Golden People)” instead. Within the state, it is often simply referred to as “the Domain”.

History

The ancestors of the inhabitants of the modern Golden Domain arrived on sparkalia in the latter half of the 1300s. Hailing from the rogue planet of Mongo, they were sent off, but are now cut off from Mongo, as the planet drifted away. ...

Geography

Demographics

Population

When counting the population of the Domain, only Mongons are taken into account. Thus the official census count only reflects the population of the Aureoloth, Doceoloth, and Sweoloth. The Yfelian, which are treated as if they are animals in the census, and not counted at all.

The majority of the Mongons are Sweoloth. The Aureoloth are a ruling extreme minority, while the Dóceoloth are in between in both general status and population. In theory the Sweoloth reproduce at double the rate of the Aureoloth, and the Dóceoloth at triple the Aureoloth’s rate, but the Dóceoloth commonly avoid conception, thus reducing their population growth greatly.

Living

The lands of the Domain are fairly low in terms of density, and its sparseness is made even more extreme by the prevalence Mongons, especially the Sweoloth, have to living communally. However, the Yfelian help to fill out some of the more remote places in the Glowing Coast.

The Sweoloth generally live somewhat communally, generally by family, in a manner similar to clans. Both the Aureoloth and Dóceoloth tend to live more sparsely. The Dóceoloth often live with others when it benefits them, but nowhere near the degree as the Sweoloth do. They like to lavish luxury upon themselves, and their taste in housing is no different. The Aureoloth often live where they work, so as to be more efficient. In other cases, they live alongside the Sweoloth communes which they control.

Health

Mongons are naturally resilient against diseases, but also keep themselves clean as much as possible, generally living near sources of water. As they do not produce solid waste, they have no issues in that regard. Great care is kept by the Domain to keep water clean, though radiation, which benefits Mongons, is counted as especially beneficial. The bodies of Mongons have slight regenerations, allowing them to live indefinitely. However, their dels, like that of other Mongonoids, is especially regenerative, and due to this is often seen as the only truly regenerating origin.

Mongon medical technology is fairly advanced, but also alien. Due to the nature of Mongons, the technology also is often dangerous to other races. Edcwicaþ, effectively a “regenerator”, is one such piece of technology. Able to reform the body parts of Mongonoids, it is extremely useful to them as a healing tool. However, due to being extremely radioactive, it is an extreme health hazard to most other species. The common Edcwicaþ is relatively large and tanklike, though Edcwicaþ as a whole can vary in shape, depending on the severity of damage they are meant to heal.

Culture

In general, the culture of the Domain is split into 2.5 groups. The 1.5 represents that of the Sweoloth and Aureoloth, who have similar cultural views, but differ in some ways. The latter portion is that of the Dóceoloth, who differ far more radically. The Sweoloth and Aureoloth are generally very traditionalist in leaning, while the Dóceoloth seek to do whatever seems right to them.

Religion

The society of the Domain is fairly religious, with the Sweoloth and Aureoloth both being very pious. Even the Dóceoloth often are at least somewhat reverent, even if only to look better to the rest of the Domain.

They worship Atol/Tao, who created them upon Mongo. On the side, they sometimes hold Meolce/Mongo in reverence, but they do not praise her with nearly as much frequency or fervency as they do Atol/Tao. The general attitude towards Tao is a mix of awe and fear, from which the denoter of Atol is derived. Mongo, after whom the planet is named, receives her denoter of Meolce due to being seen as more of a secondary, nursing, figure, compared to Tao’s more active role.

Apparel

The clothing of the Sweoloth is fairly simple. It is composed of a metallic-clothlike material known as Seoclath. It sticks fairly close to their bodies, allowing the majority of their shape to be seen. It is relatively dark in color, generally coming in blue-blacks, blacks, or dim silvery colors. They almost always cover the chest, torso, hips, and legs, with some versions also covering the shoulders and arms, though many do not. They commonly have bands over their body, though often only as adults, and especially when readied for combat. These bands have what are effectively dog tags on them, to ensure identification. The number of them increases the chance one will be found. The tags themselves are usually made of gold, while the bands, like the rest of the clothing, are made with Seoclath.

The Dóceoloth tend to wear more extravagant clothing, both in design and in colors. Frequently they wear long ended robes, and often included bright colors, such as red. They commonly wear large quantities of fine jewelry, and their clothes often have jewelry woven into them. They take pride in the beauty of their clothing, often using it as a way to show off to their fellows. They are much less uniform in dress than the Sweoloth, often wearing whatever they please, if they can, though sometimes a Dóceoloth is forced, by a superior Dóceoloth, to dress to amuse them or for some other reason.

The Aureoloth often dress in a manner similar to the Sweoloth. However, their clothing is generally somewhat fancier and more intricate, signifying their high status in society. What these modifications are generally depends on their rank or position, though they sometimes have some freedom to customize. “Lesser” Aureoloth often simply have more gilded elements to their suits, while higher ranking ones might have larger quantities of gold mixed in, and fabrics of scarlet and indigo hues attached. Unlike the Dóceoloth, they generally do not dress fancily to compare vainly to one another, but to show their status, or as a sign of their authority, or their lack thereof.

Family

Of all the Mongon races, the Sweoloth are the most familial, while the Dóceoloth often care little about it, past in whatever way it might benefit.

When Dóceoloth are born to other Dóceolotthey often form a slight bond. However, this is often mostly in a business or convenience manner, acting as simple connections. Generally the parents stand in higher status than their offspring, but if a Dóceoloth gains enough importance they might try to stand above their parents.

When Dóceoloth are born to a Sweoloth they are generally abandoned, as the Sweoloth dislike them. They are generally nannied for some time, and might form a bond with them, but whatever that is usually is fairly loose, if it occurs at all. The Aureoloth are more likely to take them in, but this almost never occurs. However, if a Dóceoloth cannot be found to act as a nanny, they are the most likely group to do so, as the Sweoloth would refuse to. In these cases, the Dóceoloth generally attempts to maintain close relations, though this is often to try and gain any portion of the status which the Aureoloth themself enjoys. They also grow up the fastest, and are generally sent out upon full development, giving the shortest time simply via nature.

The Aureoloth are more familial, but still not as close as the Sweoloth generally are. This can in large part be explained by their very professional nature, as they often prefer to drown themselves within their duties. This causes them to reproduce less often, thereby forming less family members to begin with. When they do, they act fairly strictly, raising their offspring up to fulfill important positions, making their children the equivalent of apprentices. At 30 years, they take by far the longest to develop, and thus are often kept the longest due to nature.

The Sweoloth are the most familial of the Mongon races, and show the most warmth and love to their offspring. Mother Sweoloth tend to take a more active role in the raising of children than the fathers do. Regardless, both play a more active role than the parents of Aureoloth, and certainly those of the Dóceoloth, and sadly many humans. When possible, they often maintain their children past adulthood, though the Aureoloth sometimes require them to give their children up, for reasons such as training them as cadets.

Military

All of the military forces fall directly under the control of the Viceroy. The forces of the domain are divided into two groups. The first, the Herebenth, controls the majority of ground forces, including fortifications, while the second, the Sciphere, controls both aerial and sea forces. They work in close unison, with little division occurring, as they are mostly only divided for the purpose of logistics

Herebenth

The Herebenth represents the ground forces of the Domain. It is primarily composed of infantry, though it does possess some vehicles. While it provides its own short range logistical transportation, it mostly relies on the Sciphere for the initial delivery of the supplies. The majority of the Herebenth is composed of infantry.

Sciphere

The Sciphere represents both the air and sea forces of the Domain. This includes aerial vehicles which ground forces utilize for close air support or transportation of troops and supplies. Due to the larger nature of its equipment, it is responsible for most of the longer range logistical services. The majority of the Sciphere is mechanized.

Equipment

The equipment of the Domain is varied, with some being advanced, while in other cases they are ancient tools. While powerful weapons such as the atomic-guns are utilized, at the same time weapons such as lances are still not uncommon sights. In some cases these weapons are used either due to a fondness for them, a lack of other weapons, or a specific need for them.

So called “Rocket-vessels” are common among the aerial arsenal of the Sciphere, and come in various shapes in sizes, from lighter interceptors to heavier transports and assault craft. Some naval vessels are used, but aerial vehicles are given preference in the Sciphere.

Due to gold stopping the blasts of atomic guns, both the Herebenth and Sciphere commonly use gold in their armor, both personal and vehicular. This can come in various patterns, from solid platings of gold to mesh structures, depending on the practicality and application of the specific armor. Seo, a material brought from Mongo, is also used in armor, and Seoclath is especially common, though it also simply is used in standard clothing. Seo is also found in plated armor and weaponry. This is due to the fact that while it cannot nullify the primary and secondary effects all at once, as gold can, it does prevent the secondary damages of atomic blasts, and thus offers protection from what are known as “glancing blows". “Glancing blows” are the atomic-gun equivalent of a near miss, though far more dangerous.
