The Seredinian Union constitutes a supranational, parliamentary constitutional monarchy in which three legislatures hold legislative power, with the Seredinian Diet as primus inter pares. It shares power with the Estates-General of Vannois and the Kaselian Duma.

The system in its entirety has rarely been dominated by a single party, and shifting landscapes have been a strong trait of each legislature and thus the executive. Currently, the strongest party nationally is the center-left Daisy, while in Vannois the center-right Christian Democratic Union governs in coalition with the Alliance of Liberals, and in Kaselia the left-wing Daisy - Socialist Union Group governs alone. The Seredinian judiciary is independent of both the executive and legislature, as are the judicial systems of Vannois and Kaselia.

The political system was created and is maintained under the auspices of the May Constitution of 1929, which has been amended several times in the last ninety years. The May constitution, an overhaul of the previous First Union Constitution, emphasizes human and civil rights in addition to setting out the rules and regulations for each of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches as well as their relations toward the Vannoisian and Kaselian governments.

The Seredinian Union was forged on 7 June 1870 as the Kaselian-Vannoisian Confederacy, and entered into the First Union Constitution on 1 February 1912; at this time, it was renamed to its current moniker. It is a member of various intergovernmental organizations, including the Forum of Nations and the Joint Space Agency.
