Mahine is a territory of Meridon, consisting of Mahine Island and its outlying minor islands. It is bordered to the north by Alexandria and Ohawe territories, to the east by Redbird and Silvers Island territories, and to the west by the Southern Islands territory. Mahine's capital and largest city is is Kohina. Other cities of note in the territory include Maratea and Marin Bay.

Kohaku was one of the earliest regularly inhabited islands in the Meridonian archipelago with archaeological records dating from as long as 5,500 years prior. Mahine was one of the first islands outside of Alexandria that was settled in the aftermath of the First Colonial War and was the site of fierce fighting between European and Tangaran tribes. Mahine's terrain inhibited large-scale crop agriculture as was possible in Alexandria until the late 20th century, and instead specialized in manufacturing and cattle raising. As industrialization came to Alexandria in the early and mid 20th century, Mahine's economy diversified broadly. Mahine developed a significant intellectual base in the 1800s which has contributed a number of notable politicians, scientists, engineers, and other figures of repute to Meridonian society. Mahine is the second most populous territory in Meridon, second to only Alexandria.

Today, Mahine is renowned for its expansive entertainment sectors, and was a driving force in the expansion of the hospitality sector in Meridon in the mid 1900s, being home to major hospitality and resort groups such as Elysium and Whiteswan. Mahine is also famous as the birthplace of Meridonian aviation, hosting a number of large aerospace companies such as Lanceair, Matca Aerospace, and Laurein Aerospace. Mahine has had a long tradition with motorsports of many kind, including the LAWAIR Rally, an international 'motorsports triathlon' consisting of races by air, land, and sea consecutively.
