Kosmas II and I was the Grand Prince of Kollavik from 1474 to 1484 and Co-Emperor of Mesogeia from 1484 to 1494. He was deposed by Vitomir I in 1484 as Grand Prince of Kollavik as a result of the disastrous effects of his father, Rurik I's, military-first policies that greatly expanded the military of Kollavik at the expense of the economy. He then married Cleopatra Irene III and became Co-Emperor of Mesogeia for ten years until he died in December of 1494 in a court power struggle.
In a similar way to his father, he championed reforms that greatly strengthened the Mesogeian military and oversaw a period of cooling relations with his home country, Velikoslavia, and the Repnin Dynasty. After the death of his grandfather and Co-Ruler, Heraclius V and his wife remaining locked up due to insanity, he consolidated power and began to exercise more direct authority over the court. He is known also as the father of the renowned Mesogeian emperor, Manuel V, who succeeded him in rule after emerging victorious in the power struggle. In 1494, Kosmas attempted to abolish the practice of Co-Emperor and instate himself as the sole emperor, causing great upheavel in the court. The ensuing power struggle culminated with his death in 1494 after he was stabbed.
