The First Republic (Farokandi: Rézpublika Dézok), officially the Republic of Farokand (Farokandi: Rézpublika Farokandi), was the period of Farokandi history from the April Revolution to the Yurotdzé Crisis. It was established in 1828 after the passing of the First Constitution. The period of the First Republic was characterized by economic growth and widespread political corruption. This corruption led to its replacement in 1840 by the Second Republic of Farokand.
