East Arcadia, officially the People's Republic of Arcadia (PRA) is a country in northeastern Laurentia and borders the Two Prestonias to the east and West Arcadia to the west, along the Arcadian Demilitarized Zone. The country's northern and southern borders are defined by coastline, from the Northern Ocean in the north to the Great Ocean in the south.Like its western counterpart, East Arcadia claims to be the sole legitimate government of the Arcadian peninsula and adjacent islnads and the only successor to the Second Arcadian Empire, which collapsed in 1945. It has a population of 68.3 million, of which the majority live in the west of the country. The capital and largest city of Dimopold is located in the east of the country, but the next largest cities are the western cities of Veilikatar, Samaros, Zaravan, Ionpold, and Pygrovalea.

What is now the Arcadian Peninsula was inhabited as early as the Paleolithic period. The first protostates in the region were noted in the early 7th century BC. Following the unification of the Peninsular Kingdoms into a single empire, Arcadia was ruled by the Samar dynasty (1174-1291), the Burkel dynasty (1291-1533), and the Albertos dynasty (1533-1673). The First Empire collapsed due to famine, and scattered into several disparate states, the largst of which was the Arcadian Free State, a prototypical democratic republic. The Free State would embark on several wars of conquest, culminating in the declaration of a Second Arcadian Empire in 1800. After the Second Great War, the Second Empire would also begin to fall apart due to the stresses of war. In the west, a democratic insurgency predominated while the eastern industrial areas fell under a communist regime. After the civil war, negotiations on reunification failed. Since then, the East Arcadian government, calling itself the People's Republic of Arcadia, has competed with its western counterpart. Despite being nominally aligned with other dictatorships and communist states, the East Arcadian government set a course mostly focused on eliminating or annexing its western neighbor. This has brought East Arcadia international condemnation. From 1994-1996, East Arcadia suffered a famine that resulted in the deaths of between 300,000 and 500,000 people, and the population continues to be nutritionally worse off than its western neighbor, averaging less calories and smaller stature than in West Arcadia.

According to East Arcadian government propaganda, East Arcadia is an "independent socialist state". Elections are held, but they are considered neither free nor fair with the results returning near universal victories for the ruling People's Party, which directly or indirectly controls all of the major positions of government in the country. This has resulted in the East Arcadian government being incredibly dictatorial and totalitarian, with the government intervening in virtually every aspect of life in the country. The means of production are owned by the state through state-run enterprises and collectivized farms. Most services – such as healthcare, education, housing, and food production – are subsidized or state-funded.

East Arcadia follows a military first policy, prioritizing expansion of the Arcadian People's Army and Arcadian People's Navy in the allocation of resources. The country is believed to possess weapons of mass destruction, and is the country with one of the largest reserves of military and paramilitary personnel. It is widely considered to have one of the worst human rights records on the planet. While a member of the Pangaean Union, international condemnations has left the country diplomatically isolated in official forums, though the country maintains relations with other states through unofficial channels.
