The Belhavian presidential election of 2008 was the 50th quadrennial presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008. The Conservative nominee, Senator Eli Goldman of Freeport, and his running mate, Governor Jacob Grossman of New Shelvoy, were elected to a term as President and Vice-President, defeating the Liberal Democratic nominee, Governor Jacob HaNavi of West Dakos , and his running mate, Governor Ralph Obserstein of Anaheim.

Voting System

The president and the Senate is elected through a plurality majority popular vote by eligible, registered voters in a first-past-the-post electoral system.

Campaign and Issues

Results

On November 4th, 2008, with 62% turnout, Goldman bested HaNavi 50%-48%. The Conservative Senator won 13 provinces and 3 Crown Territories, compared to Novian's 12 provinces and 2 Territories. The Libertarian, Adam Leibniz, won no provinces or territories.
