History

Geography

Governance

There are two regional authorities in the Greater Darwin Region. The Greater Darwin Council has jurisdiction over the Greater Darwin area, consisting of the counties of Epping, Kakapo, Bolton and mainland County Darwin. The Isles of Macarthur County Council provides services to the Isles of Macarthur area. It is the newest regional authority, having been granted Home Rule status in 2016, and thus was no longer under the jurisdiction of the Greater Darwin Council.
