Saint-Baptiste has a two-party system, in where two dominant parties have the ability to form government, with others having traditionally difficulty achieving long-term electoral success. The two main parties, the People's Action Party (PAP) and the Saint-Baptiste Labour Party (POSB), have both formed government since democratization in the 1980s. Political cleavages in Saint-Baptiste include divisions based on identity and region, with the more urban, service and finance industry-focused, and Blaycophilic parishes being dominated by the PAP, while the POSB's strongest results typically come from working-class and rural communities, especially those with significant Creole populations.

A handful of smaller parties have entered the Chamber of Deputies on occasion, but have failed to find long-term success against the two main parties.
