Citadel is the largest city in the Alfar Imperium, as well as the second largest metropolitan area and chief financial center in the nation. Citadel is a major cultural, political, and scientific center in the region. Home to numerous banking companies, IT clusters, and headquarters of Royal Marquesan Exports in Amador, Citadel is considered the second most important city in the Imperium after Ifa Serine

Citadel rests along the Citadel Harbor in northwest Amador, home to the Port of Citadel, one of the largest ports in the nation and in Gholgoth. The Irulian River empties out just north of the city and forms the southern end of the Ulakan Wildlife Preserve. Citadel is considered alongside Ifa Serine, Enas Shaereth, and He'kir as the primary terminuses of entry into the greater country.

Citadel serves as the capital of the Hokain Prefecture and is the chief city of the Citadel-Tal Vesperin Greater Metropolitan Area and serves as the largest concentration of urban build up in the nation, just surpassing Ifa Serine in total size. Tal Vesperin serves as a secondary city in the prefecture, though is home to several key military installations, including Torgiski Army Base.

Citadel is the birthplace of modern Alfarian economics and the largest financial center in the nation. Citadel Central Bank is heaquartered in the city and five the the largest ten banking companies in the nation have their home offices in the city. The city is the largest IT sector in the country, employing upwards of 25% of the entire nation's IT workforce.

Citadel serves as a secondary capital in the Imperium and houses various secondary government institutions. It is also home to several notable Alfarian architectural marvels, such as the Spire of Prosperity, Ranaska National Stadium, and Kaskil Opera House. The cityscape of Citadel is the second densest in the country, though Citadel does retain the largest number of high-rise buildings anywhere in the Imperium, with only He'kir rivalling it. The nations tallest buildings are traditionally located in Citadel, while Ifa Serine and He'kir laying claim to other tall structures.

Demographics

Citadel is the largest city by proper population in the Imperium, with an estimated population of 806,043,932 in 2023, almost one hundred million more than Ifa Serine, the Imperium's second largest city. The Citadel-Tal Vesperin Greater Metropolitan Area, with a population of 2,334,940,094, is the second largest metropolitan area after the Ifa Serine Metropolitan Area. The city has seen steady, if not rapid growth for much of the past two centuries, with growth figures at their highest between 1900 - 1950. Citadel overtook Ifa Serine as the largest city in the Imperium at the turn of the twentieth century, a title it has held since following population declines in Ifa Serine during the period. Citadel's population growth rate has seen a slowdown in recent decades, with several other cities begining to experience rapid growth.
