The Reichstag (German pronunciation: [ˈʁaɪ̯çstaːk] (About this soundlisten), "Diet of the Reich") is the unicameral national parliament of Germany. Members of the Reichstag are directly elected by German citizens every four years. The modern iteration of the Reichstag was established by the 1980 Constitution of Germany. The Reichstag acts in its own right when performing its duties, and the actions it takes are attributed to the "will of the German people", rather than a delegation, order or instruction.

The current number of members of the Reichstag is 750. The Reichstag is elected every four years by German citizens aged 18 and older. Elections are held on a proportional representation system. The Reichstag can be dissolved by the President of Germany, but only after the Chancellor has failed to maintain the confidence of the parliament in a vote of confidence for the chancellor. Elections are held every second Sunday in March. When snap elections are called, they are required to be held either on a public holiday or on a Sunday.

As the chief legislative body, it produces the national government and its presiding chancellor. The Reichstag elects and oversees the chancellor and their ministers. Each minister has a separate committee for oversight. The Reichstag sets the government budget and exclusively decides on deployment, dispatch and assignments of the Reichswehr, Germany's military.

The Reichstag meets in the Reichstag building in Berlin. Since 2022, Yvonne Magwas of the DVP is the president of the Reichstag. The president is elected by the members of the Reichstag. The president of the Reichstag is the second-highest ranking administrator of Germany, preceded by the Chancellor and followed by the president of Germany.
