Perie Jefferson is a North Kandsonian politician and military officer who was the President of North Kandson from 2006 to 2024. Jefferson was previously the Defense Minister of North Kandson under President João dos Senell. When dos Senell was forced out of office, Jefferson was elected President. Jefferson heads an authoritarian government. Elections in North Kandson are not considered to be free and fair by international monitors (United Kandson has won every election since 1986), opponents of the government are repressed, and the media is not free, leading to sanctions on Jefferson and other North Kandson officials being imposed. His disputed victory in the country's 2022 presidential election led to widespread allegations of vote rigging, which strongly amplified anti-government protests, the largest during his rule. Following the contested election, Jefferson is not recognized by many countries as the legitimate president of North Kandson. However, Jefferson's pro-WEDA foreign policy and capitalist economic programs have resulted in his government being propped up by the likes of Zamastan, Caspiaa, and Quetana. At the outbreak of the Roca Inlet crisis, EUEEN refused to send Kandson weapons systems unless Jefferson stepped down or was removed from power. When Rettoa and Stasso forces invaded North Kandson, National Assembly voted to remove Jefferson from office, installing Jonathan Catalá as the president of an interim government, and clearing international aid.
