The Stát Coitianta Seuria, also known as the Popular State of Seuria or more commonly as simply Seuria, is a country located in Kistavich. It borders the République Autonome d’Arcadie and Kaskaida navally. It shares no land borders with any currently existing states. As of the 2030 census, it had a population of approximately 32 million, this being the largest population to have ever existed on the islands at once. Seuria comprises three major islands, and a number of smaller ones generally believed to number in the low hundreds (116, approximately).
Seuria as a state was long occupied by Arcadie - with domination of the islands as an autonomous province existing since the early 400 BCE period (following the rule of Oisean Macmathan), and direct rule having been a reality since the quashing of independence attempts (such as the Lá na Feirge) in the 1700s. Seuria would break way from Arcadie following the efforts of Maynard Wallaker and his Party for National Liberation - the latter lasting and morphing past the death of its founder, and becoming the primary source of political power within the nation. Owing to historical cultural spread (primarily through Meridon in the form of exiles from the occupied islands and Anagonia owing to historic conflicts), Seurian exists as a widely used international language in Kistavich - although it is generally irrelevant elsewhere.
Seuria is, as mentioned, a defacto one-party state organized around the institution of the Party for National Liberation - now known, as of 2026, as The Independence Rally, with every President-Minister of the period since independence having been a member of such, including the current PM Baxter Faucher. It maintains strong relations with Meridon despite severe political differences, owing to Meridonian support in the establishment of Seurian independence. It additionally maintains a strong xenophobic stance towards Arcadie, with the two nations not sharing embassies and refusing to conduct formal relations with one another, a stance unpopular amongst an entrenched grouping of Arcadie-descendent individuals who were unable or unwilling to leave post-independence. Seuria is not a major power, and relies on Meridonian support for most of its defensive preparations.
Etymology / Terminology
The state would be named for both the popular resistance its establishment represented and for the new truth that it would be a state for Seurians in a distinct sense - and not, as had been proposed in previous independence attempts, a multi-cultural or concillatory state. In recognition of the crimes of the Arcadie - and that it was the popular action to both force them out and force those who remained to enter in the cultutral sphere of the Seurian population, it would be named the Popular State of Seuria.
History
Ancient Seuria
Seurian peoples are presumed to have emerged from the Kistavich continent, with their inhabitation of the islands being seen as something of a historical fluke, a short-term land bridge presumed to be the reason why so many were capable of moving to inhabit the region which would eventually break away despite directly-found remnants of such. Historically, the primary inhibitors of the region would be known as the Insular Seurians.
Historically, Seuria would have a strong seafaring culture from an early period of history, with the earliest points of sea-based contact with other early state entities occurring in the 600 BCE period - with the Ancient Seurians inhabiting many of the islands of the overall Western Kistavich Islands Chain, and engaging in trade with both the natives inhabiting the current-day Kaskaidan landmass and with the early states of Arcadie. During this time frame, many small kingdoms would rise and fall tied to the properties and leadership of local minor nobility - until one, the High Kingdom of Seuria established by Fedelmid Macmathan, managed to last past the death of its founder through a large scale process of land reform and administrative changes, including the destruction of certain settlements found highly unwilling to unite under the Macmathan banner.
The Seurian High Kingdom would encroach gradually on the territory of pre-modern Arcadie, through both trade and through the seizure of key port cities in exchange for supporting their previous owners in military actions to seize the territory of their rivals.
Seurian Invasion
Overt invasion would begin under the reign of Oisean Macmathan, who used the invasion as a means to secure his power over the native nobility - which at this time was again becoming resurgent after the diffident rule of his father. In an effort to distinguish himself and establish a legacy which would leave him in a position of power, he would use troops already present in occupied cities (and their outlying territories) to launch a full scale invasion of the then-feuding statelets of Arcadie, eventually successfully seizing the vast majority of the territory of such despite fierce opposition. With this gambit successful, his plans for a full-scale purge of the nobility were prevented by his sudden and unexpected death.
His children would move to continue the invasion into Kistavich, which would eventually result in both the creation of sympathetic leadership in Dracaduna, the occupation of territory in both what is now Kaskaida and regions near what is now Jin, and the attempted invasion of Minor Kistavich / Anagonia, which would eventually result in the collapse of the Seurian High Kingdom. This collapse was both military and domestic - with the occupied territory of Arcadie falling into a massive revolt, involving both already present resistant figures and the general populace which had been turned to anti-state activities owing to a collapse in food security. A litany of crimes would be engaged in by both sides, most infamously the Journée du Sang massacre conducted by Jeanne d'Ay de Gesapsgel.
Seuria itself, with its key ports (and much of its fleet) seized by the revolting Arcadie, would be invaded and conquered, with high casualties to the invading forces. It would be incorporated into Arcadie as a semi-independent territory of such, although the population would eventually be calmed by the provision of large-scale clan-backed (as in: backed by the ruling clan of Arcacie) food provision and material seizure of noble land, which left the territory in a somewhat governable state.
Occupation
Seuria would be occupied for much of history - from the 360 BCE period to the early 1970's. This occupation would, naturally - and especially following the beginning of more explicit Arcadiezation attempts - see major cultural shifts within the Seurian population, as partisan movements worked to maintain traditional cultural and political systems in the face of increasing state repression. This struggle - known as the "Cultúr-Streachailt" or Culture-Struggle would see the transferal of a number of Seurian cultural artifacts abroad, most especially to Meridon. It would also see the imposition of Standard Seurian as the Arcadie-influenced language used by a majority of Seurians, with Standard Seurian becoming a global linga franca for diplomatic organizations despite the less-notable diplomatic presence of Seuria in a majority of the nations using such - mainly due to Standard Seurian's spread to Anagonia and Meridon over time.
The occupation of Seuria would go through a number of distinct phases, usually associated with the development of the governments of Arcadie - with these periods commonly being determined by the amount of autonomy or violence inherent to the operation of the associated Arcadie-established governments. In general, on a historical level it was the Republic of Arcadie which would trigger the most dissent and general violence, largely due to the increasing presence of militant figures in state leadership and the collapse of autonomy under the clan-rulership system of the pre-republic period. In a number of ways, it is this distinct shifting of political goals that ensured the continuation of a number of Seurian Independence Movements - with the lack of consistency causing the population to agitate towards independence to ever greater extents.
Autonomous Period
While Seuria would be conquered under Gautzelin II, it would take until his deposal - and the establishment of the clan system of leadership in Arcadie - for any distinct action to be taken in regards to the occupation itself. Seuria would be raised to being an internal province under the newly established system of clan leadership - being allowed to appoint a representative via direct vote every 4 years to interact with the other heads of internal provinces, although this head was never allowed to be considered for a position of overall leadership within the state. During this time, the relationship between states was relatively mutualistic, with internal trade restoring much of the damage from the war itself on Seuria and the Arcadie-majority provinces using the shipbuilding information of the Seurians to establish large-scale networks of international trade, especially in regards to nations such as Marquesan.
Even in these early phases, however, there retained a distinct level of discrimination against the Seurians. They were not, generally, allowed onto the mainland excluding in specifically appointed port cities, their islands were often seized directly by the state for utilization as a recreational or resort structure, and as mentioned above the Seurian representative was fundamentally unequal to the other clan heads, in his inability to ever become the true leader of the state. Despite these issues, Seurian culture did manage to flourish to an extent, spreading to Anagonia through the trade routes established by the Arcadie - with the Seurian Neterist Church being established at this time. This state of affairs would carry on until the early 1600CEs, when under the rulership of the puppet-head of state Cuán Crowe, the First Arcadie Revolution would occur, establishing the Republic of Arcadie.
Initially, the state of affairs would remain somewhat similar to how it had been under the clan system, with the newly established Seurian Internal Republic having the same general spread of sttae powers as the puppet clan-group had possessed. Unlike the rule of the clan system, however, there was a distinct political interest in the suppression of this internal independence, with Arcadie's first president Ferricus Raoult repeatedly using "Border violence" between Seurian groups and rapidly-spreading groups of Arcadie colonial groups to seize greater amounts of territory from the internal republic. This seizure of territory would continue under his successors, with the complete dismantling of the Seurian Internal Republic coming in the early 1780s, under the rule of Talebot Dembélé. This period would see the rise of a number of resistance-focused cultural figures, including Jeanne d'Tarc de Arvoire - who remain popular figures to this day for their salvation of Seurian cultural artifacts and, in the case of de Arvoire, her sacrifice to save a fleet of fleeing Seurians from the Arcadie.
This status quo of lacking independence and economc rights would endure for some time - until under the rule of the nationalist Ligue Sang et Terre - who would begin the Decade of Blood in the early 1820s.

Geography
The topography of Seuria is primarily comprised of broadleaf forests, with a number of native species (around 80+) adapted to such. This geographic similarity is not shared with the outlying islands or the north of Seuria's primary island, which have less temperate climates, with a notably colder (or warmer, in the case of the southern islands) temperature. The national animal of Seuria is the Seurian Baum Marten, which is somewhat domesticated. The main rivers of Seuria are the Trent, Severn, and Mersey, which were historically used for travel across the divided statelets of the period. The primary makeup of the islands is basalt, likely formed during the opening of the Seurian-Arcadie Sea. Seuria's highest mountain is the Helvellyn, standing at 950 meters (3,116ft).
Climate
Most of Seuria has a temperate climate, with generally cool temperatures and plentiful rainfall all year round - an average of 210 raining days per year. The skies are often clouded, with heavy winds being somewhat common. Seuria was one of the first states to invest in a large capacity in weather reporting systems (and systems for the spreading of such information), to allow for the recording and preparing of key areas of the nation for storm conditions.
Politics
Seuria, as mentioned above, is a one-party state under The Independence Rally - previously known as the Party for National Independence. Formed under Maynard Walker, the Rally has been the party of every elected President-Minister, including the current government of Baxter Faucher. It is a unitary state, comprised of a single-body parliament known as the Tionól, represented by the head of the current-largest party (in all cases the Rally) and the directly-elected President Minister - although not having occurred in any point of history, on a hypothetical level the President Minister and the head of the Tionol could be different figures. Elections occur every four years, or whenever the currently elected government loses the confidence of the Tionol and is voted out by a two-thirds vote - a course of events which has occurred with more radical President-Ministers.
The Constitution of Seuria is an officially codified document, which lays out the principle goals of the Government (to ensure the sovereignty of Seuria and to maintain the welfare of its people), the organization of the government through the Tionol as a party-list elected structure, the organization of the Judiciary system's highest levels as an directly elected body with set terms of 8 years - with regional courts to be allowed to control their own procedure, and the office of the President-Minister - which, while directly elected, is to have the exertion of its powers and the maintaining of that office held exclusively by the shared will of the Tionol, setting out the capacity to remove the PM as well as to prevent the passing or utilization of powers possessed by such.
Seuria is split into approximately 70 district councils, with these councils having the devolved power to control their own law enforcement and other key health or societal services - with the funding support of the government, the right to directly elect heads of local government, and the right to bring issues between councils to the Tionol for arbitration, in the event that local structures cannot accomplish such to a degree which satisfies both parties.
Foreign Relations
Seuria, as a nation, is fundamentally tied to Meridon - who it relies upon for the majority of military purchases and foreign support in the event of a hypothetical Arcadie invasion. Seuria has been generally unwilling to join international bodies, owing to a belief in the lack of their effectiveness and lacking trust in the other members of bodies such as the Pan-Regional Multilateral Partnership or the International Coalition of Nations. It has, obviously, negative relations with Arcadie - who, as of the beginning of the Great Marinian War have rapidly moved to attempt to invade Seuria. It additionally has negative, if one sided in such, relations with Marquesan - who it has no major interactions with, due to a cultural distrust of Marquesan as an Arcadie-descendent state.
