The House of Carantus is a Norumbian royal house of Latin origin. The family rose to prominence in Latium in 1652 as a minor house in the north of the country, with most family members serving as commanders in the Imperial Army as means to acquire status. The family emigrated to Belfras, then a dominion of the Empire, with the intention of assuming power in the newly created Dukedom of Kalamos. The previous controllers of the Dukedom had perished from internal discord and the head of the house at the time, Kaeso, seized the opportunity.
