The CA-18 Maistín (English: Mastiff) is a fourth-generation main battle tank developed by Monarcha Ríoga Tanc in the late 1980s for the Ossorian Armed Forces. It's official designation is Carbad Armúrtha 18 (Armored Chariot 18) and is designated as a Feithicil Marcra Armúrtha (Armored Cavalry Vehicle) or FMA by the Ossorian military. It entered production and service in 2010 and currently sees service with the Royal Ossorian Army and the Ossorian Royal Guard.

Armament
The Maistín is armed with a new and improved 120 mm/44-calibre main gun capable of withstanding higher charge pressures compared to the gun equipped to the Bocsaeir and is equipped with 25 rounds, which can include: APFSDS, HEAT, high explosive (HE), smoke, anti-personnel, and illumination rounds. The autoloader can load 14, with an additional 2 rounds stowed behind the gunner, and another 9 housed in a ready ammunition storage compartment for a total of 25 rounds on board.
The secondary armament consists of a 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun (600 rounds) and a 6.5 mm coaxial machine gun (4,500 rounds).
Protection
The Maistín consists of modular sections of composite armor applied to a nanocrystalline steel base armor, providing the ability to mount varying degrees of protection depending on the mission profile and weight requirements. Vehicle weight is 40 tonnes in the base configuration, 44 tonnes in the standard configuration, and 48 tonnes in the fully equipped configuration.
Mobility
The Maistín is powered by a 10-cylinder two-stroke cycle diesel engine providing 1,500 hp (1,120 kW), providing approximately 30 hp/tonne. The hydropneumatic suspension units are mounted on the front and rear pair of road wheels, which can be adjusted on-the-fly to deal with uneven terrain. The maximum quoted road speed of the tank is 70 km/h and it is capable of accelerating from 0-200 m in 20 seconds.
Accommodation
Similar to every Ossorian tank and armored vehicle built since 1946, the Maistín comes equipped with a boiling vessel for heating water for use preparing and heating food and drink.
Other features
The Maistín is equipped with a C4I system that can be incorporated into an encrypted network to enable real-time data sharing between other vehicles within the formation, supporting infantry, as well as with rear-area commanders. Alongside the FCS, the system affords the tank's crew the following functions:
- The search range for each vehicle can be specified from the platoon leader's vehicle.
- The detected target is collated with the database and automatically identified, and the distance, position, type, etc. are automatically shared within the platoon.
- It is possible to instruct each vehicle from the platoon leader's vehicle. It is possible to coordinate both concentrated shooting and shooting at individual targets.
- The platoon leader's vehicle automatically knows where and when the vehicle under their command is aiming.
- When aiming, FCS collates with the database and automatically aims at weak points.
- When landing, FCS will judge the effect from the landing position and enemy vehicle type, and if uncertain, it will recommend a re-attack.
- Automatically track multiple detected targets, determine the threat level, and recommend to occupants.
Additional features of the Maistín include:
- A continuously variable transmission that allows the tank to reach 70 km/h forward as well as reverse.
- An autoloader that allows the main gun to fire continuously with an interval of approximately 3.5 seconds.
- Hydropneumatic active suspension which allows it to adjust its stance and absorbs recoil when firing.
- Day/night sights mounted around the turret which provide full 360° coverage as well as input to the C4I system.
