She grew up with a brother and a sister, Rami and Kariina. Leppälä attended the local schools in Paltamo whilst growing up. Her family attended a local Episemalist church where she was a member of the choir and has credited this as being a major motivation for her becoming a singer. | |||

Essi Leppälä (born 16 May, 1996; age 23) is a Velzemian singer, songwriter, actress and model. Leppälä first gained minor recognition acting in Velzemian dramas and soaps whilst also doing modelling jobs. She released her debut EP, Sweet Things, independently in 2012 but it proved to be a commercial failure having sold only 300 copies by the end of 2014. In 2015, she signed to Electric Records and released a remix of one of the songs from her EP, Lost In You, with Velzemian DJ Mister Outo. The remixed version of the song peaked at number three on the Velzemian Top Hits Chart and number seventeen on the Narozalic Charts. Between September 2015 and May 2016 Leppälä released two more top twenty hits, Release and Dark Place, as standalone singles.
