Essi Leppälä (born 16 May, 1996; age 23) is a Velzemian singer, songwriter, actress and model. Leppälä first gained minor recognition acting in Velzemian dramas and soaps whilst also doing modelling jobs. She released her debut EP, Sweet Things, independently in 2012 but it proved to be a commercial failure having sold only 300 copies by the end of 2014. In 2015, she signed to Electric Records and released a remix of one of the songs from her EP, Lost In You, with Velzemian DJ Mister Outo. The remixed version of the song peaked at number three on the Velzemian Top Hits Chart and number seventeen on the Narozalic Charts. Between September 2015 and May 2016 Leppälä released two more top twenty hits, Release and Dark Place, as standalone singles.
In December 2016, Leppälä released Crazy Together as the lead single from her debut studio album, Essi. The single peaked at number two on the Velzemian Top Hits Chart and spent twenty weeks in the top ten as well as reaching number eight on the Narozalic Charts, her first top ten single in the region. The album went on to have five top ten hits, including the number one single New At Love. The album was released in July 2017 and debuted at number three on the Velzemian Album Chart, going on to peak at number one eight weeks after it's release. It has spent a total of thirty seven weeks in the top ten of the chart since 2017. In October 2019, Leppälä released the song Not Again as the lead single from her second studio album, The Getaway, due to be released in May 2020. The single debuted at number one and has so far spent seven weeks in the top position and sixteen weeks in the top ten. The second single, Let's Dance, was released in January 2020.
