The Hæstirétt class battleship is a class of two battleships constructed by Aureumterra in the 1940s for the Imperial Navy of Aureumterra during the Nordic Sea Arms Race of 1905-1950. The ships were both a significant departure from earlier vessels, armed with ten 406mm guns and a rear triple turret design previously not seen in the region, which was a direct counterweight to the new Velikoslav Type 47 470mm naval gun that had recently been tested. The ships were considered ahead of their time, using capable but complex diesel engines to achieve a maximum of 30 knots and travel at ranges in excess of 19,000 nautical miles. These engines proved complex to maintain, however, and significantly increased the vessel's maintenance costs. As a result, out of the four planned, only two were completed. They were considered the culmination of Aureumterran battleship design and the final Aureumterran battleship constructed before naval doctrines began to shift away from the vessels.
