Helniemi is the fourth-largest city in Caspiaa with a population of 948,000 inhabitants. It is located on the east coast of the main Caspiaan island along the shore of the Tarin Sea, and is the northernmost point of the Viitaniemi metropolitan stretch. Helniemi was settled as a Ascomanni fishing village in the 1000s, and eventually grew into an area of economic and cultural prominence. By the time of Caspiaan independence in the early 19th century, Helniemi saw rapid industrialization and became a center for the shipping industry.

On June 12th, 2022, an Al-Fijar terrorist killed 28 people in a bombing at the Ministry of Natural Gas Exploration.
