Kaiyang (Qi Script: 開揚; Alphabetized Huajiangite: Kāiyáng; Guavai: haaiyañh) is one of the largest cities within Huajiang and the largest city within Huajiang that speaks Guavai, with a population of 5,724,926 people within the metropolitan area. It is seen as the gate between Western Huajiang and Eastern Huajiang, as the cultural divide between Contemporary Huajiang Culture and Traditionalist Huajiang Culture. Kaiyang is also seen as an important cultural location, as Kaiyang was formerly the capital of the He Dynasty during the Second Fractured Era, and afterward swapped hands several times during the Siege of Kaiyang.

Kaiyang was initially founded as a farming village, which grew in size after the production in the area increased. The latest mention of Kaiyang was under the name Jiuyuan (九淵 (Jiǔyuān)) in the Classical of Zhu. After the fall of the Zhu Dynasty and the start of the Kaiyang was destroyed during the Siege of Kaiyang, where is had afterward been rebuilt as a village of little significance.
