The L-12 Type Transport is a class of medium cargo freighter built by various manufacturers in the Imperial and Federal Union. The L-12 is the most recent variant of the L class Transport, based on specifications and standards laid out by the R.u.B Board of Trade, and is intended to provide a vessel that can be widely manufactured to fill a high demand for shipping, as well as easily fitting most extant cargo handling infrastructure. The L-12 is a standard design, widely manufactured by multiple shipyards throughout the R.u.B Union. The L-12 is one of the most commonly seen cargo vessels in R.u.B space, utilised by the R.u.B Merchant Marine and Charter Companies, private shipping lines, and other users.

The L-12 is easily manufactured, even by the most primitive and poorly equipped shipyards, and the design--unlike many other cargo vessels--is held by the R.u.B Board of Trade, rather than a private holder. This has resulted in the L-12 being exceptionally widely built, and even individual vessels often varying wildly in capabilities or internal design. L-12s have been known to be extensively modified to serve a variety of functions, including: cargo carriers, tankers, passenger liners, exploration vessels, and other roles.

Characteristics

Courier-Class Tanker

Courier class Tanker

The Courier class tanker is a variant of the L-12 Type Transport manufactured for the express role of transporting liquid cargo. Liquid phlogiston in both refined and unrefined states are among the most common items carried by the Courier, but they are also used for transport of water and other liquids when necessary.

The Courier is equipped to be a self-contained vessel, able to load and unload its cargo without the need for dockside facilities. The vessel is equipped with three dorsal nozzles, able to directly connect with other storage tanks to load and unload its liquid cargo. The Courier is widely used by the Imperial & Federal Navy as an underway replenishment vessel, able to refuel other ships in transit, without need to return to port.

Kodiak-class Attack Transport

Kodiak class Attack Transport

The Kodiak class attack transport is a heavily modified variant of the standard L-12 Type Transport, designed for ferrying and deploying ground troops onto hostile or contested worlds. To this end, the Kodiak class is equipped with a more robust military grade ravelin system, along with increased defensive firepower. In addition, a hangar bay below the main cargo envelope provides docking space and support facilities for numerous T.12 'Sealion' landing craft.

A single Kodiak is capable of transporting nearly a division's worth of men and equipment to a contested zone, and is able to deploy all but the largest of vehicles and equipment to the surface rapidly.
