Characters roleplayed by the player User:Tarsas.

House Ivanov

House Ivanov, known as the House of Financiers, is primarily associated with banking and finance. Though their dynasty's ascension is recent, they have always wielded enormous influence on the Council of the Nine due to their ownership of Vinst Banking Group, or VBG, which Andrei Ivanov founded in 1450 as the Banker's Guild of Kollavik. As the centuries passed, the institution would go onto become the primary aristocratic bank in the country, providing demand deposits and making loans. They were awarded the region around the city of Volskur in 980 andestablished Ivantoft Castle, which serves as the ancestral seat of the family, though the family head no longer lives on the estate.

Alexis

Tsar Alexis V

Alexis is the eldest son of Nicholas II and Frederica of Silingia, the sister of the current King of Garima, Conrad IV. Born May 7, 1989 and proclaimed as his father's heir, he lived a storied childhood. It is often stated by his brother August that he was similar to his own heir, Paul, as a boy. Nicholas was a hard man and a staunch conservative and had the highest expectations of his children. Alexis has often mentioned to his closest confidants that his siblings would have grown up much differently had his father survived. Though still confident and capable, Alexis is considered more among the centrist nobility and has a more relaxed view on many things in contrast to his brother, August. He inherited the thick, black hair of his grandmother and the strong features of his father. As a boy, he was often called the "daredevil prince" as his personality regularly clashed with his father's dominating demeanor and he would periodically misbehave to demonstrate his independence. His primary hobbies include automobile collecting, shooting sports, and swordsmanship and he is known to be dangerous in his use of Agian, the sword of the Tsar.

Initially, due to inheriting the throne at a young age, Alexis was somewhat timid in his role as Tsar. Through the encouragement of his family, he grew into a confident ruler who exercises authority with a fair hand. Much like the relationship between his two eldest children, Alexis often competed with his brother August as a boy, which was actively encouraged by his father. This has continued into adulthood, with a light rivalry persisting between the two into adulthood. Alexis is known for his measured and methodical personality, which generally results in smooth implementation of decrees and other measures. Patience is a virtue Alexis prides himself of and has a reputation for such throughout Velikoslavia. A patient and laid-back personality made him the perfect match for his eventual wife, Theodora, who is very much the opposite. His willingness to listen to those who serve him and his constant attempts to better himself are pleasing tendencies to those around him.

Despite his virtues, Alexis has his fair share of weaknesses. His measured approach sometimes results in a refusal to make quick decisions, as Alexis prefers to be fully informed and prepared before issuing laws or decrees. This oftentimes requires research and time spent with advisors. Not being able to entirely escape the all-encompassing personality of his father, he carries a prideful nature about certain issues, which occasionally brings him into conflict with his family members, children, and government officials. Most notably, he can rarely back down from his younger brother August when the two come into contention, though both of them have done well at hiding these types of interactions as they've gotten older lest someone use it as a weakness. Though patient, Alexis still possesses a fiery temper when finally pushed too far and has been known to use harsh words. Try as he might, he cannot fully shake the slight undertone of arrogance most high ranking Velikoslav nobles carry with regards to their way of life and country.

Paul

Tsesarevich Paul Ivanov

Paul is the eldest son of Alexis and Theodora and heir to the Sapphire Throne. He inherited the title Grand Duke of Volskur, a subsidiary title under the crown given to the heir. Though he is the oldest, Paul is is more reserved than his brothers Michael and Nicholas. He rarely puts himself out into the limelight at any social event, though his position means it usually finds him. He inherited his mother's Alcaenian genes, granting him her family's more prominent nose and brown hair. His grandfather and father's blue eyes passed to him, though they are a much darker blue. Paul has fewer friends than his siblings, with his closest being Skandar Alrund whom also serves as his steward. When not attending school or performing a duty of his station, Paul can often be found in the Tsesarevich Pavilion where he typically invites his friends for long periods of time. His hobbies include sword fighting, gridiron, and producing digital art.

Unlike his siblings, Paul is much less comfortable in his station. Because of his more laid-back and reserved nature, he does not have full confidence in himself to perform his duty. This often colors his interactions with other royalty. However, he is still fiercely competitive with his little brother Nicholas. Even though in the back of his mind he thinks his brother might make a better ruler, and part of him wishes he could simply surrender his inheritance to his brother, his pride as the first born simply won't let him back down from his brother's challenges. The two often spar at swordsmanship practice. Each brother generally wins as many matches as he loses, Paul with his strength from being older and his brother with his speed and agility from his smaller, lithe body. Though competitive behind closed doors, Paul still defends his younger brother to in front of those who would speak against him. Though somewhat strained, both boys share a strong sibling bond and neither of them truly hate each other, they simply have differing opinions on many aspects of their roles and lives.

Though Paul has his flaws, he also has many good traits that his parents think will make him a good ruler. He is compassionate with others and does not use his station to lord over others. Though somewhat shy and reserved, he is an enthusiastic and likable person once you get to know him. He is close to his father who he greatly respects, though he doesn't always show it. He is wise in many matters of state that revolve around empathy and welfare whereas his younger brother and uncle take a harder stance on such things. Despite his nature, he is popular around the palace and with the people as he has shown off various aspects of his personality simply by performing the duties of his station. Those under him consider him to be kind and caring and he is also popular in his mother's court in Mesogeia. Though he doesn't see it in himself, many of those in government do not look poorly on him and think that he will eventually become a Tsar to be proud of. Most believe that age will bring clarity and help him grow into the man he needs to be.

Nicholas

Tsarevich Nicholas Ivanov

Nicholas is the second child of Alexis and Theodora and is second in the line of succession. He inherited the title of Count of Alborg for being born second in line. Nicholas has already shown himself to be headstrong and ambitious and is known to be well-behaved. He has shown the natural traits of leadership, taking center stage in his friend group and interacting well with other aristocracy of all ages. He inherited his grandfather's High Telerian blood lending to his light complexion and his mother's high Alcenian facial features, making for an attractive combination. He is of an average height of 5'1. When not attending school, he can often be found in the rose gardens of Velikograd Palace with his friends, Harkon Repnin and Thorald Stenmær, his childhood friends. Some of his favorite hobbies include fencing, swordplay, and gridiron.

Nicholas is firmly of the belief that he deserves what he considers the "respect due his station" and instructs his staff to address and treat him as such, or, more specifically, his uncle instructed Nicholas on how to instruct them. He greatly respects his uncle August for his strong will and hard stance on the culture and values of their shared Telerian heritage. It is also rumored that August has a similar respect for Nicholas and he is well liked amongst the nobility among the conservative factions of the palace. Though expecting respect from those below him, it can at least be said he is respectful to those who are his elders. He is obedient to his father Alexis and his mother Theodora, though his opinion of some of his father's policies is poor.

Though he has many graces, Nicholas has many flaws as well. Some have referred to him as bratty due to his constant invoking of his station to gain what he perceieves as respect. He is often at odds with his brother, Paul, whom he seems to consider competition. Nicholas is acutely aware of his brother's personality, which he often refers to as "soft", and considers himself as much more suited to be heir. He is oftentimes jealous of his older brother and periodically attempts to challenge him on things he does and choices he makes, though not openly in front of his parents, who actively discourage the boys rivalry. Though rivals privately, Nicholas will still defend his brother vehemently from those who would speak against him, stating that it is "not the place of lesser men to speak against royalty." Many of the older nobles liken it to the childhood rivalry of Alexis and August.

Michael

Tsarevich Michael Ivanov

Michael is the third son of Alexis and Theodora, named after the famous Mesogeian emperor, Michael XII, who defeated the Bayarid Empire, though at first many thought he was named after his uncle, Michael. Out of all of his siblings, he is the most charismatic, though in a different way than his brother Nicholas. Michael inherited the most of his mother's looks of any of the brothers with the smooth brown hair and brown eyes that can be regularly found in Mesogeia. He is stocky and well-built even for his age and showing signs of growing into a naturally muscular teenager. Outside of education Michael's favorite place in the palace is well known to be the kitchens, where he will often make off with something sweet from the serving staff. His favorite hobbies are playing gridiron like his elder brother, painting, and tinkering with his collection of computers.

Whereas his elder brother Nicholas shows his charisma in natural leadership, Michael displays it as a love of socializing and social gatherings. Michael is never seen in Velikograd or in Hauptburg, where he spends many a summer, without a group of boys magnetizing to him. He is considered well-mannered, but has a quick wit and a sharp tongued when pressed. He is renowned across at least three Belisarian courts for his love of pranks and jokes, which has gotten him in trouble many times. He is not particularly ambitious and at peace with the fact he was born the third son, preferring to spend his life his own way. One of his favorite places to be is Hauptburg, where his cousin and friend Farid lives and he often spends his summer's there with his grandmother's family.

Michael's biggest flaw is his lack of ability to take things seriously and he often is caught between his elder brothers when he attempts to make light of or brush off something they are arguing about, which creates a three way argument. He oftentimes earns his brother Nicholas's ire by dismissing his attempt to correct or advise him as "uptight, stuffy nonsense". Though his grades are passable, he rarely gives full effort to anything he doesn't find interesting, a trait his parents are regularly vexed by. He is considered by many at court to be unpredictable, but his tender age allows him immunity from most scrutiny. Michael also does not particularly like authority, preferring to do things his own way, and he is widely known as the most stubborn of the Ivanov children with the same strong will as his mother. This periodically gets him into trouble, especially with his mother, and the two occasionally have a clash of wills, which Michael rarely wins.

Maria

Tsarevna Maria Ivanov

Maria is the fourth child of Alexis and Theodora and the first girl that the couple had. Maria is what could be considered a model daughter. She inherited her father's more laid-back demeanor like her oldest brother that tempers the streak of fire that runs through all of Theodora's children. She also inherited her mother's looks with striking brown eyes and deep brown hair. Maria is already showing the early signs of growing into a beauty. Maria applies herself, whether she is good at something or not, and has excellent grades and etiquette for her age. She can usually be found in the palace gardens during her free time or perusing fashion shops in the city. Out of all of the siblings, she is best adapted to the far stricter court customs of her Mesogeian family members and is quite popular with the Mesogeian upper aristocrats as a result.

While her brothers are always pursuing their own dreams or hobbies, Maria enjoys spending time with her mother and can often be found with her, joining in on whatever the Tsaritsa is occupying herself with. She is well-known as the best behaved of the Ivanov children, filling her role as a daughter of the Tsar perfectly and with poise, and many believe she will make a fine candidate to marry a future ruler. She has yet to have her public debut and is still of a tender age, so it is not known whether she leans more towards the conservative or reformist nobility within the court. Out of all of the children, she spends the most time in Mesogeia with her grandmother and great-grandmother and is rumored to enjoy it there.

Theodora

Tsarvena Theodora

Theodora is the youngest child of Alexis and Theodora and the most like her mother of any of the siblings, even being named after her. It was said that when she was born, Theodora fought her way into the world as she had a remarkably quick birth. Much like two of her siblings, she inherited her mother's eyes. Her hair, however, is closer to the dark black of her father. If Maria is the ideal daughter, Theodora is the most troublesome with a fiery temper and quick wit. She has little patience for etiquette or the more drab aspects of the life of a royal. Despite this, she is very much the apple of her father's eye being his youngest daughter and he is known to indulge her more than he does his other children. Rather than the typical hobbies of a girl, Theodora gravitates towards more tomboyish pursits such as sword fighting, video games, and sports.

Maria is known for having a special bond with her brother, Nicholas, and is one of the few people that is known to be able to put him in his place. Though he fights with his other siblings and doesn't listen to them as often as he should, he is know for listening to Theodora. This is considered a strange dynamic, as Theodora dislikes all of the etiquette and pomp that Nicholas enjoys. Despite that, the two share a close bond as siblings and often gravitate towards each other at court events.

August

August Ivanov

August Ivanov, the current Prime Minister of Velikoslavia, is the second son of Nicholas II and Tsaritsa Frederica. Though he never openly said it, Nicholas favored August as a son who was like himself. With a similar personality and views as his father, August often enjoyed his father's favor up until his death. He also inherited his father's Telerian looks with blonde hair and blue eyes. Much like his nephews, August has had a continued rivalry with his brother, Alexis. The two often fought as boys and into the early days of Alexis' rule, though the learned to hide it better as they got older. Despite this, both developed a mutual trust as they became older, driven closer by the death of their father and August was officially appointed as Prime Minister of Velikoslavia in 2020. Known for being a member of the conservative nobility, August rigidly adheres to custom and tradition. He was a model son, popular at court and a favorite in the public eye. His hobbies include the equestrian arts, shooting sports, and swordsmanship, as the collection value of horses vs cars was another childhood disagreement between the brothers.

In contrast to his brother, August has always been confident in any measure of leadership role he carries. He has shown to be decisive and capable, excelling in quickly presenting solutions to complex problems. Taking after his father, August has a heavy dose of his famed charisma and is known for his rousing speeches. August is extremely confident rarely doubting himself and the decisions he makes, having a strong sense of justice that what he is doing is right. Despite not being on the throne, he has orchestrated many aspects of his own life and the parts of the government, believing himself to be the one whose duty it is to shore up any weaknesses in his brother's leadership. Through this dynamic, the two have formed a capable team and can work well together despite their regular disagreements on certain issues relating to matters of government and the court. August is extremely proud of his birthright and position and expects others to pay him the respect his station is due. His loyalty is also unquestionable, and he willingly stepped aside despite certain members of the Council of Nine arguing that he would be a better Tsar than his elder brother.

Though a man of high virtue, August has weaknesses as all men do. His confidence can periodically extend up to arrogance and a refusal to accept that his solution might not be the best one. August is known to be hard on others in certain situations and often gets berated by his siblings for showing a lack of empathy. He has a strong tendency to disagree with his older brother on many issues and the two often deliberate heavily in council meetings. Though not outrightly impulsive, August periodically makes decisions impulsively, thinking that he knows what is best. Surprisingly, he did not inherit his father's temper, but is very haughty and aloof when angered and engaging those who are angry. August possesses a significant amount of Velikoslav pride, sometimes referring to other cultures and their practices as "barbaric" in private, though he is not overtly racist. His virtue can sometimes be shelved if he feels like he must commit a clandestine action for the good of Velikoslavia and he has been known to pursue solutions behind his brother's back in some instances.

Oliver

Oliver Ivanov is the eldest son of August and Jenna of Langhulm, an Ottonian royal, who was born in 2019. Though young, he already shares many traits with his father and is the apple of his father's eye, being his eldest son and heir. He can oftentimes be found in his older cousins' shadows whenever he is at court as he greatly respects them, especially his cousin Michael who goes out of his way to include the younger boy in his games, despite being nearly 6 years different in age, much to the chagrin of his father, who is often critical of Michael's carefree nature and lack of care for responsibility, though Oliver has yet to show any of these tendencies, so August tolerates the relationship.

Mariana

Mariana is the youngest child of August and Jenna, born in 2022. She has mostly remained in the nursery in her parent's estate and has yet to be introduced to public life beyond a few appearances.
