Ensign of the Auxiliary and Merchant Fleets

This is a list of active vessels of the Kaiserliche-Marine. The Kaiserliche-Marine operates a total of 148 vessels, and is primarily supplied by the Germaniawerft shipbuilding company. For historical vessels, please visit List of Historical Kaiserliche-Marine Ships.

Classifications

The Kaiserliche-Marine maintains specific classifications for its warships. Major surface combatants are classified as "Kriegsschiffe," and the list of classifications are below.

Aircraft carrier

Aircraft Carriers are any vessel capable of carrying and launching fixed-wing aircraft (minimum of 40) as its primary offensive armament.

Amphibious Asssault Ships

Amphbious Assault Ships are tasked with assisting amphibious operations, capable of carrying amphibious strike forces along with helicopter and VTOL aircraft to support operations.

Cruisers

Cruisers operate as "surface-superiorty" vessels, able to carry more armaments than destroyers in order to secure a sector in advance of main forces.

Destroyers

Destroyers are a mid-sized surface warfare vessels capable of multiple roles, generally fleet escort and patrols.

Frigate

Frigates are like small destroyers, being a small sized surface warfare vessel, tasked with smaller missions.

Corvettes

Corvettes operate as the smallest "Kriegsschiffe" classification within the Kaiserliche-Marine, often tasked with anti-aircraft and coastal defence operations.
