The Mereman State (Merenmán Virävaldkund), commonly referred to as Merema, is a sovereign island country in Southern Lannonia, occupying much of the Kutean Lowlands bordering Nokhovia, Yesetria and Sarantay. It also has a claim to the Elivagan referred to as the Far Southern Territory. A regional power under the republican theocracy of the Tastanist Malatians, modern Merema is a prosperous society that owes to the legacy of the Neva Empire. The capital of Sajma is a key city in Tastanism and a major center of learning, the arts and trade in the Pasean region. However, it is still marked with social divides between the poorer, rural west and the more cosmopolitan and the richer, cosmopolitan east, the country's political center. This is exacerbated by the country's oligarchic structure which favors the clerical-bureaucratic estates ("üläpänik")...

The Nevanic homeland of the Inner Seas region was an epicenter of civilization during the Classical era, helmed by the Kantise city-states that dot the Neva river and the Great Lakes. The first large-scale Nevanic polity, the Turhota Kingdom (modern day southern Yesetria) lasted from about XXXX to XXXX. Turhota (and in turn, much of the Nevanic peoples) would be put under the rule of the Ancient Sepcan Empire, forcing some, mainly the Surelasians, to exodus southward into the Nevan Coast and modern Surenar.

The Surenar would thrive and exist as a distinct civilization in its own right, especially by the 6th century CE. The Vitrified polity of Marenia from the north unified the Surenar in 1035 into the Great Vaino Empire (1035-1781) by Ahtimoinen, who was crowned by the Malatian Church as the living avatar of the Broken God made flesh. The Vaino Empire at peak spanned from the Scavic peninsula in the west and the Great Lakes at the east, leading to a golden age marked by colonialism, global exploration, and cosmopolitanization.
