Nuovatoscanan Italian, also called simply called as Nuovatoscanan, is the standard dialect of the Italian language in Nuovatoscanan Guiana. It is based on the European Tuscan dialects; however, it was heavily influenced by African, Indigenous American, Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, and Dutch influence. Mutual intelligibility between Nuovatuscan and European Italian is high but it is marked with different pronunciation and vocabulary exclusively used in Nuovatoscana.


History

Phonology, Grammar, and Orthography

1. Median "z" is pronounced as "s" in Nuovatuscan as opposed to "ts" in Peninsular Italian. Z at the beginning of the word is pronounced as /z/.

2. "h" as a starting letter is not silent unlike in Peninsular Italian and is pronounced as such.

3. "r" is consistently trilled.

4. "s" and "z" are consistently voiced.

Lexicon

Nuovatoscanan Italian preserved words lost or obsolete in Italy, and at the same time, incorporated words from Spanish, Portuguese, Sranan Tongo, and other languages. Also, Nuovatoscanan Italian incorporates words from various Italian regions that are not present in European Standard Italian but are considered as normal in Nuovatoscana.
