The Prime Minister of Aquitayne is the head of His Majesty's Government in Aquitayne. The prime minister (officially abbreviated PM) and Cabinet (consisting of the most senior ministers, who are the heads of their government departments) are collectively accountable for their policies actions to the people of Aquitayne, the Monarch, their political party, and the Parliament. The office is the highest attainable civilian office in Aquitayne and holds widely renowned respect and prestige. The current Prime Minister, James Zaeir, leader of the Royalist Party, was appointed by the King on 15 November 2011.

Unlike similar positions in other nations, the office of the Prime Minister is detailed and defined within the Aquitaynian constitution. The Prime Minister, as required by the constitution, is mandated to appoint ministers to his council and meet with them at least once a week. The Prime Minister typically comes from the House of Commons, and is traditionally the party leader. The Prime Minister does not wield as much power as is traditionally bestowed on them in other constitutional monarchies around the world. Rather, most of the governing power remains in the hands of the Aquitaynian monarch, with the Prime Minister executing the Monarch's wishes through the majority government. The Prime Minister does not have the power to declare war, deploy troops, or to formally sign treaties into law - all of these still remain the duty of the monarch. Rather, the Prime Minister's real role in Aquitaynian politics is to see to the day-to-day running of the State, deal with business inside Parliament, and to ensure the government runs smoothly.

To ensure this, the Prime Minister is also the First Lord of the Treasury.
