Reception
The film received positive reviews, with critics praising its music, its humor (consisting of slapstick and black humor) and its action scenes. the final fight scene between Tom and Leopold is considered by many film critics to be the highlight of the film.
The film was also a success in other countries, which also helped to popularize the Tom Teufel comic book series there.
